Universal Free School Meals
Termly Choices in Key Stage 1 – Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 (Parrett/Aller/Sedgemoor)
All children in these year groups are entitled to a free school meal. Termly menu choices are provided for parents/children to choose. If we do not receive a completed form (or opt out slip) by the deadline we will assume that you are happy with the choice of 1A each day for your child and we will order food accordingly.
Free School Meals
All year groups/classes
If your child is eligible for Free School Meals, then please return the menu choices otherwise the choice of 1A each day for your child will be ordered.
Paid For Meals
Key Stage 2 – Years 3, 4, 5 & 6 (Sedgemoor Yr 3s/Northmoor/Isle/Kingsmoor)
If your child is in one of the above year groups, and does not received Free School Meals, you can order and pay for meals on a weekly basis. Order forms can be found in the School Hall Lobby in a leaflet holder on the wall. There is a black ‘post box’ next to it where you can leave your orders with payment. Orders need to be received by the TUESDAY MORNING for meals the FOLLOWING week.
If you wish to pay termly in advance the cost for the Autumn Term 2019 is £182.50.

Comments from the Huish Catering Taster Event held on 15 May 2019:
We were pleased at the number of parents/carers & pupils who came to the Taster Event and took the time to fill in one of our feedback forms. Some of the comments we received were:
“very tasty” (to the curry, brownie & shortbread); “11/10! scrumptious” (chicken curry); “better than the old dinners“; “lush!“; “shortbread better than my husband’s and he’s a chef!“; “lovely veg lasagne“; “flavoursome, tasty, not too spicy“; “lovey and gooey” (brownie); “meal choices look great“; “a hit with all!“; “great idea to mix the white & brown rice” (curry); “the shortbread is delicious, what’s your recipe?!“; “very tasty curry with plenty of flavour but no too spicy for the little ones“; “presentation & quality good“.
Included in a couple of the suggestions were whether the choice of a packed lunch could be included on a daily basis rather than just for trips and whether the food could be presented buffet style for the children to help themselves.
All the comments and suggestions have been fed back to Mrs Doughty Davis, Headteacher and Huish Academy’s Catering Manager for consideration.
