School Meals
All children have a choice of either bringing in a packed lunch or ordering a hot meal.
We are a nut-free school so please do not bring in any meal items or snacks containing nuts.
Packed lunches
Packed lunches should be healthy and consist of a balance of foods. An ideal lunch may consist of something similar to:
- A sandwich, wrap, crackers with cheese, ham or jam
- Two pieces of fruit
- A yoghurt
- A small packet of crisps, rice cakes
- Something sweet such as a small chocolate or cereal bar, a jelly, a biscuit
We will support families where the balance of foods may need adjusting.
School meals
Our school meal provider is Lavender Country Kitchen.
Meal orders (paid for) and menu choices (UFSM/FSM) are to be made on Schoolcomms.
Please see the menus and allergens at bottom of the page for information. There are hot lunch and packed lunch choices on the menu. If children are on an educational visit, there menu choice will automatically be changed to a packed lunch even if a hot lunch has been ordered.
Do I pay for school meals?
If your child is in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2, they are automatically entitled to a free school meal. We call these meals ‘Universal Free School Meals (UFSM). You still need to order these on Schoolcomms as we only receive meals which have been ordered. Almost all children have a school meal in these year groups although your child can bring in a packed lunch.
If you are on a low income, your child/children may be entitled to Free School Meals (FSM) and this can be for any year group. Please follow this link and complete the form. The school will be notified of the result automatically and will let you know you can order Free School Meals from that point. You still need to order these on Schoolcomms as we only receive meals which have been ordered.
All other families will need to order and pay for school meals. However, if you need a little support with food, please don’t hesitate to contact the School Office or speak with Mrs Doughty Davis.
How do I order school meals?
If you would like to order school meals for your child, you should do this through Schoolcomms. You must order on Schoolcomms by 9.00am on the Tuesday morning for meals the following week. You can order multiple weeks at a time and in advance. The menu is different for each week in the term, therefore there are eight different weeks. The term always starts on week one of the menu each time.
If you have any queries please contact the School Office by emailing office@HEPS.ppat365.org or call 01458 250673.
