Our School

Welcome to our lovely school which is situated in Langport, in the heart of the Somerset Levels.

Huish Episcopi Primary School has wonderful pupils who learn, progress, achieve and have fun across seven classes.

We have a beautiful, light and spacious Victorian building for our older pupils.  Our younger pupils enjoy a bright and modern building in a wooded area.  We are fortunate to have a large site which includes lots of outdoor space to explore and discover, a large school field, a dedicated room for computing, a hall, and bright and airy classrooms throughout. These facilities house our fantastic children who make our school the hub of the community. Our children make us proud every day.

We favour a bespoke welcome to all of our children and families.  If you would like to join our community, including in Reception, then please call the School Office to make an initial enquiry or to arrange an individual tour.

The aims and values of the school are that: ‘Each child  leaving our school should depart as an academically curious life-long learner and a confident and thoughtful citizen.  They should believe in equality of opportunity for all; they should have the tenacity to effect change in this community and beyond for the greater good.’

This statement is ambitious for each and every one of our pupils. We firmly believe that every child has the right to a first class education which we strive to provide at all times.  We believe in high expectations for pupils in all areas, ranging from the way we present ourselves to the goals we set.  We do not shy away from placing academic study at the forefront of our broad and balanced curriculum.  Our children will be competing with the best and brightest minds across the country; we need to give them the greatest opportunity to succeed in their first steps in this educational establishment.  Our aim is for every child to have choice of opportunity in their future careers and lives.

Alongside this, the school has strong pastoral support systems which involve all staff being equally responsible for the wellbeing of our children.  Parents and carers are valued members of the school community and are encouraged to immerse themselves in school life wherever possible.  The staff are welcoming, effective and have high expectations of themselves and others.

Ofsted (March 2020) states ‘The Headteacher and her dedicated staff aim to provide the best possible education for all pupils. Parents and carers are overwhelmingly pleased with the school. Staff have very high expectations of pupils’ behaviour. Consequently, it is often exemplary. School leaders’ aspirations for pupils are evident in the school’s values and ambitious curriculum. Pupils like coming to school.’

I hope this welcome and website give you an overview of our school, however, there is so much more to know.  Please do not hesitate to contact the School Office should you wish to make an initial enquiry or have an individual tour.
