Our School

We are a small, happy and inclusive school with excellent facilities.

Huish Episcopi Primary School is a ‘good’ school (OFSTED September 2012). It has six classes and caters for pupils from the age of 4 to 11. It is situated in Langport at the heart of the Somerset Levels. The school is housed in a beautiful Victorian building, which occupies an elevated central position. The accommodation consists of six classrooms, a study suite, a community/cookery room, hall, library area as well as meeting/group rooms and offices. We are fortunate enough to have a sizeable playground as well as an attractive school field.

Huish Episcopi Primary School is a school which takes pride in being ‘involved’. We recognise that children learn in different ways and through a range of experiences and this is why we complement our formal curriculum with a full enrichment programme of visits, visitors, sporting, musical & creative experiences and a comprehensive programme of out of hours learning.

We believe that children will learn best when they are encouraged to ‘aim high’ and are given the necessary support and challenge to do so. This is encompassed by our mission statement which is ‘Inspiring….Believing…Achieving’. We are proud of the progress the children make whilst at our school.

Many people comment on the school’s warm welcoming atmosphere. The staff team are hardworking and committed and are ably supported by parents and Governors. We have gained many awards for our provision. The most recent award is Artsmark Gold. We have also gained accreditation for our dyslexia friendly provision, a gold kitemark for PE, an Olympic Get Set funding award, Eco Schools, Healthy Schools and FMSIS for good financial management. Much of this could not have been achieved without strong partnerships formed with organisations in our community.

Supportive relationships are crucial to each child’s success.  We encourage parents/carers to be fully involved and work in partnership with us to provide the best education for their child. Our home/school agreement endorses this commitment. Choosing a school for your child is one of the most crucial decisions parents make. In deciding on Huish Episcopi Primary School, we recognise the trust you have placed in us and will do our utmost to ensure that we provide the best education we can for your child.

Huish Episcopi Primary School is an Academy School, part of the Levels Academy Trust and is funded by central government.  The Academy Members, Trustees and Governors are responsible for the overall running of the school.  The Executive Principal of the Trust is Mrs Heather Barraclough who is based at the Academy Office at Huish Episcopi Primary School.  On a day to day basis, the responsibility lies with the Head of School, Mrs Zoë Dennis.  An individual class teacher looks after the welfare of your child and they should be the first point of contact at the school on a day to day basis.
